Life Skills Mentoring for Youth & Adults
Mentors work with clients and the family to promote healthy relationships through positive, age-appropriate communications. Mentoring services are provided in the child and family's community to strengthen access to natural supports and resources.

Group and Individual Life Skills Mentoring
Four Directions Group Life Skills Workshops are tailored to fit with children and families schedules on weekends, after-school, and during school breaks and vacations. Life Skills workshops can also utilize therapeutic respite services for families and caregivers in conjunction with our licensed residential program. Areas of focus include prevention strategies:

  • Health and Wellness
  • Self Esteem Building
  • Anger Management
  • Developing and maintaining Healthy Family Relationships
  • Education and Employment Success
  • Independent Living Skills

The Life Skills Mentoring workshops provide the additional benefit of allowing children and young adults to work on shared goals in an atmosphere of positive peer influence and teamwork.

Life Skills Workshops with Therapeutic Respite
Respite services are guided by individualized treatment plans that identify the clients own strengths, needs, objectives and treatment goals they can achieve. At Four Directions, Respite Services are intended to meet the needs of families when they lack the resources and natural supports to address the behavioral challenges of raising their children. Small group houses now available upon request!

Respite care can be:

  • Temporary: ranging from overnight stays to planned, on-going Respite that includes:
    • Intensive Life Skills mentoring workshops for the client
    • A safe, stable home environment
  • Enable parents/guardians time to :
    • Acquire additional skills to meet their child's behavioral health needs
    • Utilize the time to meet their own personal needs so that they are re-energized and committed to success in achieving their child's treatment plan goals.
    • Work with the Child/Family Team to develop a safety plan
    • Eliminate the need for long-term out-of-home placement
  • Utilized to wrap services around a family to provide more than just a cool-down period. Clients will work on:
    • Coping skills to learn how to self-regulate impulsive behaviors
    • Healthy self-esteem
    • Age-appropriate social skills to improve interaction

Individual and Family Counseling
Four Directions Counseling acknowledges the uniqueness of each individual and the strengths, resources and talents they've acquired throughout their lives. Our counselors work in partnership with their clients to utilize unrecognized strengths and assets to meet their own needs and live more stable and productive lives.

Child, Adolescent and Adult Counseling
Four Directions offers home-based and in-office counseling for individuals, groups, and families. The counseling services are rooted in evidence-based practices including, but not limited to:

  • Expression therapy
  • Creative arts

  • Managing Emotions
  • Mood Stability

Family Support Services
Work in partnership with parents and guardians to help provide stable and productive home environments for their children. We work with our families to help address a variety of personal, family and community barriers that may impede their ability to lead stable lives by:

  • Connecting with natural supports
  • Identifying and accessing community resources
  • Supporting parents' active engagement in the CFT process
  • Enhancing family education
  • Building a web of natural supports
